Request Real Estate Course information and application from the University of British Columbia at Sauder UBC – Real Estate Division
STEP THREE
Take a Real Estate Course.
To take the Real Estate Course you do not need to be sponsored by Real Estate Company. However, to take advantage of the Royal LePage Kamloops training programs offered you do need to be signed up by a Royal LePage Kamloops office.
The Real Estate Trading Services Licensing Course is administered on behalf of the Real Estate Council of British Columbia (RECBC). The course provides the licensing education requirements for those who wish to become licensed as a trading services representative.
This self-paced online course allows you to register, begin the course and work at your own pace. You must complete all course assignments within one year of registration in the course and also pass a final examination. Regularly scheduled exams take place at various times throughout the year throughout the province (exams must be written in Canada) and your first written examination registration is included with the course tuition fee. You may also choose to take your exam at the computerized exam centre (CEC) at UBC for an additional fee.

Upon completion and passing your Real Estate Licensing course and exam through UBC Sauder School of Business, you will apply for entrance into the Applied Practice Course through the British Columbia Real Estate Association. This program is offered year round at numerous start dates and consist of 4 stages.
You will also need to complete the Residential or Commercial Trading Services Applied Practice Real Estate Course offered by the British Columbia Real Estate Association (BCREA). This course, which must be taken by all trading service representatives, is intended to build upon the technical knowledge provided in the Real Estate Trading Services Licensing course.
Upon completing and passing your Real Estate Licensing course and exam through UBC Sauder School of business, you will apply for entrance into a mandatory 6-month training program that will be offered 3 times per year. This program consists of 3 stages:
Stage one
2 weeks of online work in a virtual “classroom” with other soon to be licensees and an instructor.
Stage two
2 in class days. This training is only offered outside of Kamloops. (Vancouver, Kelowna, etc)
Stage three
A temporary licensee is issued and as a licensee you may start working! You will be required to complete 6 field assignments over the next 4.5 months as you progress in your new career.
Stage four
A final in class day to review assignments and wrap up the Applied Practice Course.
Once all 3 stages are complete, a full real estate license will be issued.

English Language Proficiency Requirement
As a requirement of the Rules made under the Real Estate Services Act, the ELPR may be satisfied by achieving a level 7 or higher on each of the four components (reading, writing, speaking and listening) of the Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program – General (CELPIP-G) test on the same test score report (scores from multiple test attempts cannot be combined). An applicant is deemed to have satisfied the ELPR if he or she:
- has graduated from a recognized university Bachelor’s degree or higher degree program at an accredited university, college or technical institute at which English is the primary language of instruction; or
- has been licensed for real estate services in another Canadian jurisdiction with English language standards and have satisfied that jurisdiction’s English language requirements.
